In this introduction to ballet students learn basic ballet positions, ballet steps and creative movement through exercises that enhance the development of fine and gross motor skills as they balance, skip leap coordinate, isolate and move to the music.
Children learn basic shapes, positions, postures and tradition of classical ballet and begin bar work as a part of their class schedule, then move on to routines to develop proper stance and postures. Mime, improvisation and short dances are introduced with emphasis on repetition of slow and careful work to instill bodily discipline and control.
